VP, Digital Technology

Bethesda, MD (must relocate)

The VP, Digital Technology will be responsible for building the right technology strategy to support our Omni-channel efforts across the company. This individual should have deep experience with high-traffic, content-rich retail websites sites and applications and have worked in an environment that is focused on bringing digital solutions to all store and customer interactions. Strong cross functional relationships are a must. The candidate will have an excellent understanding of continuous integration and development methodologies and can communicate cross-platform thinking so that a team of developers can build it — and users can use it. The ideal candidate will need to lead the Agile efforts for the digital team while helping the rest of the organization evolve. Experience with HTML, JavaScript, Java, React and Go and experience with Micro services architecture is also required. And lastly this person needs to be a great champion coach, and people developer as the team is smart with a strong connection to the business. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Digital Technology professional to be a part of a team for one of the few rapidly growing and extremely profitable multi-channel retailers with resources to invest.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Management of team of approximately 50+ software engineers, systems architects, analysts, and project managers.
• Translate product and business goals into technical strategy and roadmap
• Vocal and engaged participant in product strategy conversations, with rich understanding of the consumer digital world
• Close collaboration with partner technology teams such as Product, infrastructure, Data, cybersecurity, and program management
• Attract and retain key digital talent
• Build an engaged and creative team
• Support scalable, secure and top performing operations of the developed solutions

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Experience, Skills and Education:

• Knowledge and/or hands on experience within the cloud based platforms, cybersecurity and audience data and analytics
• BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related field 
• 10+ years of experience with developing mission critical software applications and systems supporting media workflows and technologies. 
• Minimum 5 years leading large software development teams showing ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment 
• Significant expertise in deploying test driven development and automated testing across teams using CI/CD
• Experience implementing enterprise scale mobile apps using React Native, Redux, and other related technologies
• Expertise in Java, SQL, UNIX/Linux, RDBMS - Oracle, NoSQL technologies, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) 
• Experience with SAP Hybris
• Experience with client side web technologies (HTML5, CSS, JS, Ajax, etc.) & integrating with REST/SOAP APIs

• Experience developing HTML based applications, using one or more of ExtJS, jQuery, GWT 
• Experience with Flash, HTML5, interactive media, iOS, Android, OTT design & app development from initial design through application launch 
• Experience with both waterfall and Agile development methodologies 
• Strong managerial leadership capabilities – a proven track record of leading diverse, vibrant teams into new areas
• Clear experience in delivering business results – pattern of achieving / exceeding long and short-term goals/targets quickly
• Successful track record building and leading omni - channel digital technology teams– experience developing and executing digital retail experiences in a distributed environment including websites, apps and 3rd party experiences
• Technology “chops” – Comfort and experience in the technology world and the retail sales floor
• Deep project management skills – demonstrated track record of project planning, execution, tracking and post-mortem analysis
• Exceptional customer orientation – ensures the customer stays at the center of the multichannel experience
• Comfort with data/analytics – the ability to communicate about the desired consumer experience and build solutions to achieve the desired outcomes
• Straddling the creative/technology divide – proven success in using technology to solve consumer and retailer pain points and challenges
• Domain knowledge – Deep insight into customer behavior and translating it to a multichannel world
• Executive presence – Experience collaborating with teams across the organization and team members at all levels
• Process, tools and capability development – introducing new ways of working across physical and digital media, including team skill development, technology enhancement, template development and process improvement
• Entrepreneurship – Demonstrated ability to roll up his/her sleeves and solve problems where the book is still to be written
• Data-centric approach – Smartly setting up processes to collect and use data for improved decision-making
• Builds extensive networks- utilizes a large network of people, vendors, technologies to stay current

Preferred Experience, Skills and Education:
• Experience in large national or international companies with a geographically widespread workforce. 
• MS in an Information Technology related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
